NEW DELHI: India’s largest online retailers are set to run massive sales this Diwali. Flipkart has it’s Big Billion Days and Snapdeal has Unbox Diwali both running 2nd Oct to 5th Oct. But the first sale to go live is Amazon’s The Great Indian Festival running 1st Oct till 5th Oct.
The festival promises the largest discounts of the year to consumers. You’ll find deals across all categories. In electronics, the most popular online shopping category, Amazon plans on running large discounts on the Moto G4, Redmi Note 3, 13-inch Macbook Pro with i5 processor, Canon 1200 D camera, Micromax LED TV among many others.
To make the most of the sale, we’ve come up with a list of tips.
Additional Savings on Cards
Pay with your HDFC debit or credit card during the sale to receive 15% cashback (if using Amazon’s app) or 10% (if using Amazon’s website). The transaction must be above Rs. 6000 with the maximum cashback being Rs. 1500.
If you are not a customer of HDFC, you can still get 10% cashback when checking out using an Amazon Gift Card on a purchase of Rs. 6,000 or more.
The cashback goes onto the gift card itself. Don’t have an Amazon Gift Card? No problem. You can buy one immediately before you use it for your shopping purchase.
Contests & Prizes
Amazon is giving away big prizes worth around 4 crores INR during the Great Indian Festival. Two hundred lucky winners will receive an all expense paid trip for two to Dubai. Ten winners will receive Chevrolet vehicles. One winner will receive a 2BHK flat in Bangalore.
Amazon has also tied up with CouponDunia to give away Amazon Gift Certificates. Anyone who shops at Amazon from 1st Oct to 5th Oct via CouponDunia, will be entered into a lucky draw to win Rs. 400 Amazon Gift Certificates. Each day 100 winners will be chosen.
Night Owls & Early Birds To Be Rewarded
Not everything goes on sale at the same time. Amazon will be releasing deals in intervals throughout the five day period. The maximum number of deals will release each night at midnight.
For the early risers, Amazon is reserving some of its best deals to go live at 8am (with some even launching at 6am). Aside from the morning, 12pm, 4pm, and 6pm will be times with many new deals on offer.
Limited Availability Means Buy Fast
Be quick to buy. Most of the best offers are very limited availability. These large Diwali sales are famous for how quickly deals sell out – some just minutes after going live.
If you hesitate to make your purchase, you may lose the opportunity. Do all your research in advance and be ready with your card when it’s time to check out.
You can subscribe to Amazon Prime, which is available for free on a 30-day trial, to get 30-minute advance access to deals. Plus you’ll get unlimited free one-day and two-shipping on eligible items to over a hundred Indian cities.
Discounts on Gift Cards
It’s little known but some of the best offers will be for purchasing vouchers or gift cards. Amazon plans to have discounted vouchers for Pizza Hut, BookMyShow, HyperCity, Lifestyle, MakeMyTrip etc. Gift cards rarely come on sale so this is a great opportunity.
This is just the beginning of the festival sale season, with Flipkart’s Big Billion Days and Snapdeal’s Unbox Diwali Sale set to go live from 2nd October.
We’ll bring you full coverage of those sales in the next day, but for now we have a sneak peak.
Day 1 (2nd Oct) of Flipkart’s sale will see deals in the Fashion, TV, Home & Appliances categories. They promise 50-80% off in Clothing, Footwear, and Accessories and will be selling a Vu 80cm (32in) HD Ready LED TV for just Rs. 11,990. 3rd Oct will see the launch of deals on Mobiles. Oct 4th is Electronics day, while 5th and 6th Oct will bring all categories into the sale. Further Flipkart has tied up with SBI to offer a discount of 10% upto Rs. 5,250 on use of SBI Debit & Credit Cards.
